Anti-Tie Down Controls from Nolatron

Nolatron’s anti-tie down controls are an integral part of a two-hand start system for presses and other machinery. These controls help to comply with OSHA’s ‘two-hand trip’ and ‘control reliability’ regulations by requiring the machine operator to press both start switches simultaneously in order to start a machine cycle. This minimizes the possibility of the operator starting the machine while their hand is in the work area.

Anti-Tie Down Switch Monitor 4880

Nolatron’s Model 4480 Switch Monitor (photo right) provides two-hand control for presses, welders, molders, and various production machines. The 4480 also helps to comply with OSHA, which requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to begin a machine cycle. This minimizes the possibility of an operator having a hand in the work area when a machine cycle is started. If one or both switches are “tied-down”, the control will not allow a new machine cycle to begin.

Nolatron TB-1 Start Bar

The Nolatron TB-1 machine start bar is a complete OSHA compliant ergonomic two hand starting system. It increases productivity while operator fatigue and stress are decreased. It features a 16 gauge steel NEMA 12 enclosure, guarded hand sensors and an anti-defeat (“anti-tie-down”) control with front panel indicator lights. When properly installed, the TB-1 start bar meets OSHA requirements of section 1910.217(6) which covers two-hand controls.

Features

Anti-tie down – The TB-1 start bar requires an operator to have both hands on start switches in order to start machine operation. This minimizes the possibility of the operator starting the machine while his hand is in the work area.

Control Reliability – The TB-1 start bar is designed to meet the OSHA classification of “control reliability” as defined in Sec. 1910.217(b)(13).

Redundant Output Contacts – The TB-1 start bar uses double “positive guided” output relays. Each relay is checked for proper status prior to beginning a machine cycle.

Flexible Mounting – The TB-1 can be mounted horizontally above or below the point of operation. It can also be mounted vertically beside the point of operation.

Nolatrol TB-2 Start Bar

The Nolatron TB-2 machine start bar is a complete OSHA compliant ergonomic two hand starting system. It increases productivity while operator fatigue and stress are decreased. It includes a cast aluminum enclosure, guarded hand sensors and an anti-defeat (“anti-tie-down”) control with front panel indicator lights. When properly installed, the TB-2 start bar meets OSHA requirements of section 1910.217(6) which covers two-hand controls.

Ergonomic – The angle of the hand sensors coincides with the natural movement of the hands and require no pressure to operate.

Safety – The hand sensors are guarded so as to allow actuation only from the side toward the machine operator.
